Raymund Ribay Gutierrez is an internationally recognised and award-winning Filipino auteur director whose debut feature film Verdict, represented the Philippines in the 93rd Academy Awards Foreign Film Category. The critically acclaimed film, produced by Cannes Best Director award-winner, Brillante Ma Mendoza; premiered in Telluride, before showcasing at the Toronto International Film Festival and winning the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

Following his feature debut described by Variety as, “an engrossing and sophisticated procedural with universal appeal,” Gutierrez was touted by the Guardian as “a name to watch,” and invited by the HFPA to participate in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Residency (2020).

Previously, Gutierrez's short film Imago (2016) received a nomination for the Palme d'Or Best Short Film in Cannes (2016) and won Best Short Cuts at the Toronto International Film Festival (2016), Best Short Film Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival (2016), Best Short Film at the London Short Film Festival (2017), and Best Film at Minimalen Short Film Festival (2018).

In 2018, his second short film, Judgement, received another nomination for the Palme d'Or Best Short Film in Cannes (2018). By age 25, Gutierrez became the first Filipino director to compete for the Palme d'Or twice in the short film category.

Gutierrez is currently developing several feature films to be shot in his hometown of the Philippines.
